CANA Membership,
Every New Year brings about reflections and resolutions. As I reflect on last year, I am energized by the support and encouragement many California CRNAs have shared. Their encouragement is the purpose of my resolution. A resolution to facilitate, an effective CANA governance and business practice, which provides a foundation for the future.
In November, CANA leaders attended AANA Fall Assembly of States in Tucson, Arizona. CANA leadership, along with AANA leadership, took the opportunity to discuss current issues and trends influencing state associations. AANA Board is aware of CANAs challenges and has offered wisdom and solutions to CANAs challenges. Therefore, the last few months your CANA Board has worked hard on; revisiting bylaws and policies, exploring educational meeting formats, and budgetary planning for the future. Again, I assure you your Board is providing the fiscal responsibility and leadership accountability you expect from your professional state association.
In my first letter, I boasted about CANA board members education and experience in academia, law, political science, business, and finance. Well, your CANA-PAC Chairman, Joe Janakes, is a CANA leader and asset to this association. His voluntary endeavor to raise $100,000 in 1000 days has raised over $40,000 to date. I am encouraged by the financial support CANA members has shared. I am thrilled by their confidence and look forward to CANA-PAC making significant strides within the political arena.
As a transparent association, membership can look forward to CANA leadership sharing the challenges and successes which shape California CRNAs. Thank you for the privilege to serve and represent your association.
Sincerely,
Dion Gabaldon, CRNA, MS
CANA President
