The October 2-5th 2008 CANA meeting at the exciting Paris Hotel was a
great success. 164 CRNAs and SRNAs attended, many more than our usual
number, as well as 14 of our excellent sponsors (Click Here for a thanks
to our sponsors). Despite the bells, whistles, and attractions of Las
Vegas, our educational meetings were very well attended. The business
meeting was especially packed, and take a look at Gayle Ulshafer’s
President’s Update on the Members Only page for details (Click Here).
Sandy Erickson was honored with the second Guardian of the Practice award,
the “Wolfie”, named for the original recipient, Tim Wolf. Like Tim, Sandy
has given decades of service to our profession through her involvement
with CANA, and through her service as President of the Board of Registered
Nursing. Read Michele Ardigo’s excellent interview of Sandy from the
Voices of Experience series (Click Here).
The educational sessions put together by Trustee Andy Biegner were timely
and highly informative as usual, and offered 20 CEs. We were especially
honored to have as a featured speaker Jackie Rowles, current AANA
President, who presented not only a full update on AANA activities, but
also 3 CEs on her specialty of pain management. Also offered for a second
time by popular demand was the highly praised ultrasound guided regional
anesthesia practicum by six of our most experienced California CRNAs
regional specialists.
Many of the speakers were kind enough to share their presentations on this
website, so please take a look (Click Here).
We hope you will join us at our next meeting, February 6-8, at Rancho
Mirage, for “The Changing Practice of Anesthesia”. We’ll offer 18 CEs, and
feature a special Saturday BBQ fundraiser, with live music and plenty of
fun with your friends and colleagues.
