The Spring 2008 CANA meeting
March 7-9 in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma was a rousing success,
culminating in a truly delightful dinner for 100 Saturday night CANA
revelers. After a private bus ride from our excellent hotel, the Lodge at
Sonoma, to the Benziger Winery, we were treated to hors d’oeuvres and a
tasting of their reserve wines in the Cask Room, followed by a sumptuous
sit-down gourmet dinner in the heated candlelit winery cave. The merriment
concluded with toasts to all those gathered, and over $10,000 was raised
for our ANAP-PAC.
We welcomed dynamic AANA President Wanda Wilson, CRNA, PhD as keynote
speaker. Wanda is also the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director at the
University of Cincinnati, and presented on a wide variety of educational
and professional topics. Our other featured speakers included Mary
Golinski, CRNA, PhD (from the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Wayne State
University in Detroit; immediate past AANA Treasurer as well as a past
Region 3 Director), Todd Herzog, CRNA, MS (current Region 5 Director),
Celeste Villanueva, CRNA, MS (Director of the Samuel Merritt Program of
Nurse Anesthesia), and students Lori Nading and Mary Iwaszewski from USC,
Christopher Harrelson form Samuel Merritt College, and John Cavitt from
Kaiser Permanente-CSUF.
Many of their presentations can be viewed here.
Overall it was a great weekend in a beautiful setting, perfect weather,
and an excellent educational meeting with good friends.
We encourage you to come meet all your CANA colleagues at our Fall 2008
4-day meeting, Thursday October 2nd through Sunday October 5th, at Paris
in Las Vegas – See details in this issue. We’ll see you there!
